Heads of South Ossetia and Nicaragua Anatoly Bibilov and Daniel Ortega discussed the development of relations between the friendly countries, the establishment of mutually beneficial cooperation, the presidential press service reports.
The meeting of the President of South Ossetia, Anatoly Bibilov, and President of Nicaragua, Daniel Ortega, took place at the end of the visit to the Republic of the South Ossetian delegation.
Anatoly Bibilov thanked Daniel Ortega for the invitation to visit Nicaragua and the warm welcome extended to the delegation of South Ossetia. In turn, Daniel Ortega has noted that the visit of the President of the friendly country is important for the people of Nicaragua.
During the conversation, the sides exchanged views on the current state and prospects for the further development of bilateral relations, on topical regional and international issues of mutual interest. "It was noted that it was necessary to sign interdepartmental agreements in various fields. The presidents also discussed the political situation in the world and security issues in Transcaucasia," the press service notes.
On both sides, the importance of continuing the bilateral dialogue at various levels of interstate relations was stressed.
President of South Ossetia invited the President of Nicaragua to visit South Ossetia on an official visit at a time convenient for both parties. The invitation was gratefully accepted.
At the end of the meeting, Anatoly Bibilov gave Daniel Ortega a landmark gift - a festive cup, performed in the Ossetian national style.
During the visit, President of South Ossetia paid tribute to the founders and leaders of the Sandinista National Liberation Front (SFNO), laying a wreath at the Mausoleum of Comandante Carlos Fonseca Amador, Comandante Thomas Borge Martinez and Colonel Santos Lopez in Managua.
The delegation of South Ossetia during its working visit to the Republic of Nicaragua took part in the celebration of the 40th anniversary of the Sandinista Revolution. Celebrations were held in the Nicaraguan capital, Managua.
During his working visit to Nicaragua, Anatoly Bibilov also held a number of meetings. Foreign Minister Dmitry Medoev and Ambassador of South Ossetia to Nicaragua Narim Kozaev are accompanying the President of South Ossetia on the trip.
