Minister of Foreign Affairs of South Ossetia, Dmitry Medoev, took part in the International Festival of Ossetian Culture in Istanbul on August 25-26, on the invitation of the Ossetian community of Turkey, the press service of the Ministry reports.
The delegation of the North Ossetia-Alania, headed by Minister for National Relations Aslan Tsutsiev, representatives of the Caucasian communities of Turkey, as well as the diplomatic corps accredited in Turkey, also took part in the festive event.
“Within the framework of the festival, an Ossetian beer contest, Iron Boguny-2019, was organized. Representatives of various Ossetian families living in Turkey, as well as beer producers from Ossetia who arrived in Istanbul, demonstrated their skills in preparing traditional Ossetian beer. Also, the contestants competed in the preparation of dishes of Ossetian national cuisine, the press service said. “In addition, an exhibition of the works of Ossetian artists and jewelers living in Turkey and an exhibition of dishes of Ossetian national cuisine were organized.”
The press service added that the festival also hosted the presentation of the book by Doctor of Philology, Professor Tamerlan Kambolov “Ossetians. Milestones of History”, translated into Turkish.

At the opening ceremony of the festival, the floor was given to Minister of Foreign Affairs of South Ossetia, Dmitry Medoev. In his speech, the Minister greeted the audience and congratulated them on an important event for the whole of Ossetia, designed to popularize Ossetian folk art, preserve the ethnocultural identity of the Ossetian people and the Ossetian language.
Dmitry Medoev also read out a welcome address on behalf of the President of the Republic of South Ossetia Anatoly Bibilov to the participants and guests of the Ossetian culture festival in Turkey.
