Regular NATO exercises in Georgia and the supply of weapons to this country by its Western allies are a direct threat against the background of the unwillingness of the Georgian authorities to abandon revanchist ideas and the unwillingness to raise the issue of a document on the non-use of force at the Geneva talks, said the head of the South Ossetian delegation at the Geneva talks. Murat Dzhioev.
“That is, they actually refuse to work jointly on this legally binding document,” he stressed at the briefing at the State Committee for Information and Press.
Dzhioev has reminded that Georgia's political circles and media continue to impose such concepts as "occupied regions of Georgia", "occupation", etc. on the international community in relation to South Ossetia.
“Once again, we tried to explain to them that South Ossetia is not related to the territory of the Georgian state, which was recognized by the international community after June 1992. They were reminded that by their actions the Georgian authorities, against the background of the collapse of the Soviet Union, legally put the Republic of South Ossetia outside the legal field of the political space of Georgia and gave them concrete facts of these events,” the Plenipotentiary explained.
According to him, South Ossetia has nothing to do with either Georgia or its territorial integrity, which has been recognized by the international community. “The phrase “within the internationally recognized borders” is nothing more than a political opus of the Georgian authorities, supported by their Western patrons and sponsors. In this regard, we distributed two documents in Russian and English - "Appeal of the South Ossetian delegation to the participants of the international discussions, to the international community", earlier, we had already circulated such a document, and "Chronicle of relations between South Ossetia and Georgia". It provides specific facts and dates on the inclusion of South Ossetia as part of the Russian state in the Tiflis and Kutaisi provinces, it is noted when South Ossetia within the Soviet Union was included in the GSSR and, starting in 1989 and all subsequent steps confirm that the RSO is not related to the territory of Georgia, just like Georgia has nothing to do with our Republic,” the Plenipotentiary said.
Dzhioev has added that at each meeting the South Ossetian party will be firmly bringing its positions to the attention of the participants in the discussions.
