South Ossetia and Crimea discussed issues of economic cooperation development via video link.

The business communities of South Ossetia and Crimea in the format of a videoconference discussed the development of cooperation in the economic sphere. As reported to IA Res by the Ministry of Economic Development of South Ossetia, the videoconference was held within the framework of bilateral cooperation between the Republic of Crimea and the Republic of South Ossetia, the online meeting was organized by the South Regional Export Support Center with the assistance of the Ministry of Economic Development of the Republic of Crimea.

“The purpose of the event was to study the requests of Crimean and South Ossetian exporters with trade representatives of South Ossetia in Russia and the Russian Federation in the Republic of Abkhazia. As part of the event, representatives of the food industry, IT sphere, tourism business and manufacturers of household chemicals and cosmetics presented their products and services to Trade Representatives and potential partners. The entrepreneurs also received practical advice and comments from experts on doing business,” the Ministry of Economic Development said.

The Ministry has noted that questions were raised about the elimination of double taxation in relation to value added tax, as well as questions about the formation of effective distribution systems for consumer goods in Abkhazia and South Ossetia.

“Trade Representative of South Ossetia in Russia Taimuraz Goginov expressed his readiness to assist in the implementation of integration economic processes between South Ossetia and the Russian Federation, including the Republic of Crimea. To continue a constructive dialogue in the development of economic relations between the Republic of Crimea and the Republic of South Ossetia, detailed presentations of companies in their areas of interest will be sent to the South Ossetian side,” the Ministry said.

The videoconference participants for the South Ossetian and Abkhaz part were Acting Head of the Department of Foreign Economic Relations and Investment Activity of the Ministry of Economic Development of the Republic of South Ossetia Ekaterina Khubulova, Trade Representative of South Ossetia in Russia Taimuraz Goginov, Vice President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of South Ossetia Vakhtang Dzhigkaev, Trade Representative of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Abkhazia Vladimir Nekrasov. The Crimean party was represented by First Deputy Minister of Economic Development of the Republic of Crimea Anushavan Agadzhanyan, President of the Union “Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Crimea Sergei Diyuk, Acting Director of the Southern Regional Export Support Center Ksenia Slutskaya.
