The head of state commented on the order signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin on the signing of the Agreement between the Russian Federation and the Republic of South Ossetia on the settlement of issues of dual citizenship.
“We understand very well that this Agreement will make life easier for the citizens of the Republic of South Ossetia. This is a serious solution for the population of South Ossetia to the problem of acquiring citizenship of the Russian Federation, which is connected both with the provision of social protection for citizens of the Russian Federation and with the possibility of receiving Russian pensions. that the legal issues related to the signing of this document will be resolved in the near future and the citizens of our country will be able to obtain Russian citizenship in a simplified manner, "Bibilov said, according to his press service.
He has stressed that South Ossetia has been moving towards signing an agreement with Russia on dual citizenship since 2008 - the moment of recognition of the independence of the Republic by the Russian Federation.
"The work on signing the relevant interstate agreement has been going on all this time. We discussed this issue during a meeting with Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin in 2018. Then the corresponding instructions were given to the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation and the Republic of South Ossetia to work out these documents," the head of state said ...
