The third day of mourning began with the memorial service for the victims. Exactly at 13:05 in the courtyard of the destroyed school, two bells strike - exactly at this time, 17 years ago, two explosions thundered here. The commemorative event is attended by Prime Minister Gennady Bekoev, Speaker of the Parliament Alan Tadtaev and other representatives of the Republic's leadership.
Thousands of people laid flowers at the "Tree of Sorrow" in Beslan, some of them came for the first time. At the City of Angels memorial, the names of 334 hostages killed in the attack were read out to the beat of the metronome.
The terrorist attack in the Beslan school, which killed 334 people, including 318 hostages, of whom 186 were children, took place on the morning of September 1, 2004. The terrorists drove over a thousand hostages into the school gymnasium, including young children. The people were forcibly held in school for three days without food and water. Among the dead were also relatives and friends of children, school teachers, special forces soldiers, employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia.
In memory of the events in Beslan, Russia has established a memorable date - the Day of Solidarity in the Fight against Terrorism.
