The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of South Ossetia Dmitry Medoev is participating these days in the event organized by the Department of International Affairs of the Communist Party in Turin.
"In Turin, Dmitry Medoev took part in the event organized by the Department of International Affairs of the Province of Piedmont within the framework of the annual regional congress of communists in Turin (Italy). The international conference was also attended by officials from a number of countries accredited in Italy, "the press service of the Republic’s Foreign Ministry said.
The participants of the event discussed issues related to the role of the EU in international relations, as well as possible scenarios for the future world order: a gradual transition from a unipolar world to a multipolar one.

Dmitry Medoev also touched upon important aspects of state building in South Ossetia, made a short excursion into the history of the struggle of the people of South Ossetia for independence, spoke about the events of August 2008 - the most difficult period in the modern history of Ossetia, which ended on August 26, 2008, when the Republic of South Ossetia received official recognition by the Russian Federation.
The Foreign Minister has stressed that the main and most important partner and ally of South Ossetia is the Russian Federation, with which full-fledged interstate relations have been established over the past years, a solid legal base has been created, numbering more than 100 agreements of various levels, covering all areas of interaction.
Medoev spoke about the threats facing the Republic today, stressing the important role of the Russian Federation in ensuring the security of South Ossetia.
He touched upon the topic of the epidemiological situation in the world - the coronavirus pandemic, which has become a serious challenge that humanity is facing in the 21st century. The Minister stressed that the whole world must unite in front of this total threat, while noting the importance of vaccination in the context of stabilizing the situation.
At the end of his speech, Medoev wished the Piedmont communists good luck in the upcoming elections.
Before the conference, Dmitry Medoev held meetings with the leaders of the Italian Communist Party, as well as with the Secretary of the regional branch of the Piedmont Party of Communists Giovani Mereu, during which they discussed issues of mutual interest, including those related to inter-party cooperation.
On the sidelines of the conference, the Minister also met with the representative of the National Political Party "Free Peru" in Italy, Elmer Michem Vasquez, at which, in particular, the recent elections in Peru and the prospects for cooperation with the new government of the country were discussed.
On Sunday Dmitry Medoev left Turin for Verona, where he is scheduled to meet with members of the Association for Cultural and Business Cooperation "Veneto-South Ossetia".
