Representatives of the organizations "Rossy" and "Union of Russian Citizens" headed by Svetlana Kotaeva, Chairman of the Coordinating Council of Russian Compatriots in South Ossetia, took part in the VII World Congress of Compatriots, held in Moscow on October 15-16.
As noted by Svetlana Kotayeva in her interview with the IA “Res”, delegates from 102 countries took part in the forum under the slogan “Russia and Compatriots in a Changing World”.
“The plenary sessions of the Congress were held on the topics “Russian World and the Challenges of Our Time” and “Historical Truth and Preservation of Identity”. In addition, the work was organized in such thematic sections as "Protection of the rights and legitimate interests of compatriots", "The role of the Russian language in the consolidation of the community", "Mass media of the Russian diaspora in the era of digitalization", "Modern technologies and education of youth", "The role of compatriots in economic cooperation between Russian regions and foreign countries,” she said.
Kotaeva has noted that she took part in the work of the section “Protection of the rights and legitimate interests of compatriots”, two other representatives of Russian compatriots from South Ossetia - Natalya Zhuikova and Anzhelika Buikovskaya showed interest in the topic “Modern technologies and education of youth”.
“We exchanged contacts with other congress participants, worked out plans, and will interact. I would like such forums to take place more often, thanks to them we exchange the information about the life of Russian compatriots in our countries, share with each other the experience of promoting, popularizing the Russian language and culture,” Svetlana Kotaeva emphasized.
She has added that the world congress turned out to be very cognitive, information-rich. At the end of the forum, the results of the work done were summed up, guidelines for the future were determined.
