South Ossetian President Anatoly Bibilov called on the defenders of the Fatherland, who defended the independence and sovereignty of the Republic since November 23, 1989, to organize a public organization so that there would be no more misinterpretations about who exactly blocked the path of the thousands of the Georgian many thousands crowd. The President announced this at the rally timed to coincide with the 32nd anniversary of the Day of Courage and National Unity.
According to the head of state, such an organization is necessary to carry out certain patriotic work with the younger generation, to tell them about the heroism of Ossetian guys, about the events that preceded November 23, 1989.
“We should not wait for historians to write about the events of the modern history. After all, earlier information was passed from mouth to mouth, from generation to generation, since there was no written language. I am sure that the formation of the organization is more necessary today in order to reveal the details of the events of the modern history in defending the sovereignty of the Republic, and once again to learn about the heroism and courage of the Ossetian,” the President said.
On November 23, South Ossetia celebrates the Day of Courage and National Unity. On this day, November 23, 1989, a group of the Tskhinval guys blocked the way of a crowd of thousands gathered by the Georgian nationalists to hold a rally in Tskhinval. The real goals of the declared "peaceful" rally became apparent later, when the armed bandit formations, unable to get into the city, organized a blockade of Tskhinval, terrorizing Ossetians on the roads and in the villages.
