During a working visit to the Republic of Turkey, Minister of Foreign Affairs of South Ossetia Dmitry Medoev met with the family and friends of the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia in Turkey, Remzi Kanukati, who had died in December 2020 in Istanbul. This was reported by the press service of the Republic's Foreign Ministry.
Dmitry Medoev conveyed to the family of the deceased the words of condolences from the leadership of the Republic of South Ossetia and the staff of the Ministry.
On the same day, the head of the South Ossetian Foreign Ministry visited the burial place of Remzi Kanukati in the suburb of Istanbul and paid tribute to the memory of the Ossetian diplomat.
Remzi Yildirim was appointed Plenipotentiary Representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia in the Republic of Turkey on March 11, 2019. All his life and work were aimed at the development and preservation of the Ossetian language and culture among the Ossetians living in Turkey. Wisdom, prudence, sanity have earned Remzi Kanukati great respect and high authority not only in Turkey, where he led the Ossetian diaspora for many years, but also in the south and north of Ossetia.
