In South Ossetia, all registered candidates for the presidency of the Republic are given absolutely equal rights to conduct election campaigning through the state media, - Maria Kotaeva, the Chairman of the Information and Press Committee of the Republic, said in a commentary to the “Res” news agency.

“On April 10, presidential elections will be held in South Ossetia. The election campaign is in full swing. The presidential candidates started campaigning for voters. This is the provision of equal airtime on television and state radio, both paid and free. Moreover, the same print space is provided in the newspapers South Ossetia, Khurzarin and Respublika,” the head of the department said.

As noted by Kotaeva, the Central Election Commission has determined the schedule for publishing the campaign materials for all candidates for the presidency of the Republic.

“This schedule is posted on the CEC website; all editors of the state media and candidates are familiar with it. All candidates are requested not to skip their turn. It seems that everything is determined, but questions arise, is it possible to replace paid and free, swap places. There is no such possibility, as the CEC determined the exit rules, this is how everything should go according to the law,” she said.

Maria Kotaeva appealed to all presidential candidates so that their authorized persons would already come prepared.

“The Campaign material must be agreed in advance with the CEC. Submissions must be submitted electronically and on paper. Proxies of the candidate must have a special certificate with them. There are no examples of candidates applying with some kind of material, and someone refused him. On the contrary, we ourselves express readiness, remind them not to lose their turn,” the head of the Committee specified.

It should be reminded that the pre-election debates started on Monday and are broadcast live by the Ir TV and radio company daily, at 21.00, from Monday to Friday. A total of nine televised debates are scheduled. From the same period, presidential candidates, in order of priority, can be published in the state media.
