Georgia can arrange provocations after South Ossetia's statements about holding a referendum on joining the Russian Federation, Tskhinval is ready to respond adequately, South Ossetian President Anatoly Bibilov said in the interview with RIA Novosti.
"No doubt there are fears," he said in response to a related question.
According to Bibilov, “there may be provocations associated with some kind of forceful actions, but here, too, it can hardly should be expected, because the security of the Republic of South Ossetia is guaranteed by the Russian Federation, by all the units that are there, and by the units located in the Republic of South Ossetia.
"In any case, there is an absolutely adequate response to any provocation - whether it is diplomatic steps or some other actions, which, of course, we will take in case of provocations by the Republic of Georgia. It is not necessary to keep silent about this or somehow speak with a hint "Adequate measures will be taken, proportionate, which will ensure the security of the Republic of South Ossetia, the security of the people of the Republic of South Ossetia. But I emphasize once again that today we do not see any threats from Georgia, those provocations that exist, we solve diplomatically, by raising these issues in the framework of the Geneva discussions. That is, there is still a dialogue going on in any case," the head of South Ossetia has noted.
Earlier, Bibilov said that consultations with the Russian Federation were underway, the referendum may take place after April 10.
