Since August 20, over 500 people have crossed the state border of South Ossetia with Georgia in two days on both sides.
This was reported at the meeting of President Alan Gagloev with the heads of law enforcement agencies, by the head of the KGB Border Service Valery Alikhanty. In accordance with the decision of the Security Council, the border department began to pass citizens living in the Leningor and Dzau districts.
“From August 20 to 21, 411 people crossed the Razdakhan state border crossing point, 192 of them for entry, 219 for exit, 97 for Pereu, 49 for entry, and 48 for exit. Of these, 168 people crossed Razdakhan on the 20th, 243 people crossed it on August 21, 40 people crossed it on August 20, 57 people crossed it on August 21," he said.
According to him, there was no excitement, as such, among the population.
“Everything went as planned. The only problem is that citizens who previously entered the territory of Georgia without passes cannot return,” Alikhanty said, noting that it is necessary to work out a mechanism for their return home.
The head of the KGB, Oleg Shiran, said that “the majority of the inhabitants of the Ksani Gorge and the Sinaguro-Karzman zone welcome this decision, but part of the population of the Republic is wary, fearing that the opening of the border will negatively affect the virus security in the country.”
According to Alan Gagloev, the leadership of the Republic understands what threats are existing.
“Our residents also live in these areas, no one has canceled the humanitarian component,” the head of state gas noted.
