In South Ossetia, 41 new cases of coronavirus infection were detected in a day based on the results of 82 samples examined, Marina Kochieva, head of the South-Ossetian Consumer Supervision Committee told the “Res” news agency.

“To date, in the “red zone” of the Republican medical center there are 7 patients, 196 are being treated on an outpatient basis, 12 people have been removed from the register in a day,” Kochieva said.

According to her, since July, the percentage of cases of COVID-19 has increased from 9 to 34 percent.

“According to the results of 726 samples examined, 247 cases of COVID-19 infection were detected in August. Of these, 44 percent are men, women - 56 percent, residents of the capital - 88 percent, 12 percent - rural residents. In the districts, 35 percent of the sick are residents of the Dzau district, 49 percent of the Tskhinval district, the least infected in the Leningor district,” she said.

Kochieva has added that of the total number of cases in August, 11 percent are citizens from 0 to 17 years old, 19 percent are people from 18 to 29 years old, 35 percent are people from 30 to 49 years old, 20 percent are citizens from 50 to 64 years old. and 15 percent are people aged 65 and over.

The head of the sanitary department has noted that the increase in the incidence of COVID-19 is also likely with the start of the new academic year on September 5.

“With symptoms of SARS and influenza, citizens need to stay at home and call a local doctor. At the same time, it is important that the patient observe the rules of personal hygiene, use separate utensils, and isolate himself in a separate room from family members.

Precautions should be taken primarily by people at risk: the elderly, people with chronic diseases, obesity, diabetes, etc.,” Kochieva has noted.

She has added that the South-Ossetian Consumer Supervision Committee sent the information letter to the Ministry of Education with instructions to conduct "morning filters" with mandatory temperature measurement in educational institutions of the Republic.

“We would like to appeal to our citizens with a request not to go to work with signs of SARS and influenza, and also not to send sick children to schools and kindergartens. It is necessary to inform the local doctor about the condition of the sick person and follow his instructions,” Kochieva has stressed.

It should be noted that the number of infected since the beginning of the pandemic has amounted to 14 thousand 385 people, 14 thousand 182 have recovered. In total, 69,695 tests for coronavirus were conducted over the entire period.
