South Ossetia is our strategic ally, ensuring its security and socio-economic stability meets Russia's long-term interests, including in the context of new geopolitical realities. Russian-South Ossetian relations have gone through the test of time and are built on the principles of alliance and integration. Political dialogue is developing dynamically between the executive and legislative branches, cooperation between defense and foreign policy, trade, economic and interregional ties, you are an ally for solidarity with Russia in the special military operation,” Alexander Novak said.

He noted the steady positive dynamics in the field of trade and economic cooperation between the countries and announced the readiness of the Russian side to follow its obligations under the Interstate Treaty of Alliance and Integration signed between the Russian Federation and the Republic of South Ossetia.

“In 2022, the trade turnover between Russia and South Ossetia amounted to $135.7 million, an increase of 4.2% compared to 2021. With Russian support, socially significant infrastructure projects are being successfully implemented in South Ossetia; conditions are being provided for improving the well-being of residents, further integration into the common socio-economic, cultural and humanitarian space with Russia. We are ready to continue following our obligations, including within the framework of the Interstate Treaty of Alliance and Integration, which defines the key areas of bilateral cooperation. We count on the corresponding return of the South Ossetian partners, first of all, we are talking about the effective implementation of the Investment Program, the activities of the state program for the socio-economic development of the Republic of South Ossetia for 2022-2025, the integration process in the customs and tax spheres, as well as strengthening control over the spending of Russian financial assistance ", - he said.

The important factor in the development of bilateral cooperation between the countries, the Deputy Prime Minister called the increase in the investment attractiveness of South Ossetia.

“We see this as a guarantee of expanding trade, economic, scientific and technical cooperation with the regions of Russia, including through the implementation of joint projects that allow developing the industrial and agricultural sectors of the economy in the Republic, as well as the service sector. As part of the work of the IGC, many specific tasks have already been solved that meet the mutual interests of the parties. I am convinced that further coordinated work will help consolidate the results achieved and give impetus to new initiatives and agreements. I see great prospects in our work, I am sure that our joint work will continue to bring good results,” said Alexander Novak.
