The violator of the state border of South Ossetia with Georgia was released from the South Ossetian correctional colony after the expiration of the sentence and handed over to the Georgian side, the press service of the KGB of the RSO reports.

"On December 24, 2021, on the southern outskirts of the city of Tskhinval, for violating the regime of the state border of the Republic of South Ossetia, officers of the South Ossetian border authorities detained a citizen of Georgia Khetereli Lasha Alexandrovich, born in 1998, a resident of the village of Shaumyan, Marneul municipality," the press service said.

They noted that the said person had repeatedly violated the regime of the state border of the Republic and was brought to criminal responsibility in this regard.

"On April 6, 2022, Khetereli L.A. was found guilty by the Tskhinval District Court of committing a crime under Part 1 of Article 322 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Illegal crossing of the state border" with a sentence of one year and four months of imprisonment in a correctional colony of general regime," the KGB has stressed.

The department noted that on February 28, in connection with the expiration of the term of punishment, Khetereli L.A. had been released and handed over to the Georgian side in accordance with the established procedure.
