There is no critical situation in South Ossetia: the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs on the transition of the security forces to the enhanced regime

The personnel of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of South Ossetia has been transferred to the enhanced duty regime in connection with the events taking place in Georgia, Interior Minister Valery Gazzaev said at the press conference in Tskhinval.

“Yesterday, the operational meeting of the Security Council of the Republic was held by order of the President, during which such a decision was made. We, as one of the power units of the Republic, cannot fail to comply with the decision of the collegial body,” said Gazzaev.

At the same time, the Minister has noted that there is no critical situation.

“This is actually a preventive measure, we are monitoring the situation in the adjacent border areas in the enhanced mode in order to avoid any conflicts,” he said.

The power structures of South Ossetia were transferred to the enhanced mode of service on Wednesday, March 8.

On March 7 - 8, rallies were held in the center of Tbilisi against the bill on foreign agents. The situation at the protest action escalated after the parliament supported the initiative in the first reading.
