The Days of Culture of the Chechen Republic in South Ossetia opened on Thursday with a performance of the play "Bela" based on Lermontov's novel "Hero of Our Time".
The performance was attended by Prime Minister of South Ossetia Konstantin Dzhussoev, a delegation of the Chechen Republic headed by First Deputy Minister of Culture Maret Baisarova, representatives of the ministries and departments of the Republic.
The guests were greeted by the Russian Ambassador to South Ossetia Marat Kulakhmetov and Minister of Culture of South Ossetia Rada Dzagoeva.
“Within a few days, the audience in the Republic will get acquainted with the work of the Lermontov Russian Drama Theater and the Vainakh Academic Group from Chechnya. These are two iconic teams with rich traditions and history. I am sure that the Days of Culture of the Chechen Republic in South Ossetia will help strengthen ties between Russia and South Ossetia. We wish the artists of Chechnya success and new admirers,” Kulakhmetov said.
Rada Dzagoeva has emphasized that culture brings people together.
“The relationship between the two Caucasian peoples - Ossetian and Chechen at all times has been distinguished by special warmth. This friendship has been tested by time and different circumstances. The Chechen Republic and representatives of its army were among those who came to our aid in 2008. The Vostok battalion took an active part in forcing the Georgian aggressor to peace. We remember and appreciate it,” said Dzagoeva.
According to the Minister, the festival of Chechen culture will last for three days on the South Ossetian stage.
Maret Baisarova thanked the leadership of South Ossetia and individually the Ministry of Culture for the warm welcome.
“We are glad to be in this hospitable land, in the fraternal Republic of South Ossetia. During these days we will introduce you to the culture of the Chechen people,” she said.
Baysarova read out a welcome address from Chechen Minister of Culture Aishat Kadyrova.
“We are proud and appreciate the centuries-old bonds of friendship between the Chechen and Ossetian peoples. In order to expand cooperation between cultural departments, we will present a rich cultural program that will tell about my native Chechnya,” the welcome address says.
Actors of the Lermontov State Russian Drama Theater performed on the South Ossetian stage, presenting the audience with the play "Bela" based on Lermontov's novel "A Hero of Our Time".
It should be reminded that on March 10 and 11 within the framework of the Days of Chechen Culture program Tskhinval will host two concerts of the Vainakh State Academic Ensemble.
