South Ossetia is closely watching the events taking place in Georgia over the past few days, which cause serious concern in the Republic, the RSO Foreign Ministry said in the official commentary.
"Obviously, the developing serious internal political crisis, into which this country has again been driven by its Western curators and so-called "friends", can become a threat to the stability and security of the entire Transcaucasia region. This is confirmed by the transformation of the slogans of the protesters, who went far beyond the boundaries of the Georgian internal political agendas and began to call on the crowd for a new campaign against South Ossetia and Abkhazia," the Foreign Ministry said.
The Foreign Ministry noted that “what is happening in Georgia causes serious concern in the Republic of South Ossetia, especially given the demonstrated nature of the protest actions, the destructive political forces operating in this country and the Western players behind them, who have been fueling the Georgian opposition for many years in their own interests, to destabilize the situation and undermine the security structure established in the region after 2008”.
"Obviously, the recent events in Georgia and attempts to provoke a crisis in Nagorno-Karabakh, Transnistria, and Belarus are links in the same chain," the Ministry has noted.
It has been added that at present the situation on the territory of Georgia bordering the Republic of South Ossetia is characterized as relatively calm.
"However, we would like to warn the "hotheads" in Tbilisi, who are again calling for a forceful resolution of the Georgian-Ossetian and Georgian-Abkhaz problems, from further escalation of tension, given the many unresolved issues and, as a result, the presence of considerable conflict potential. We sincerely hope that the current leadership of Georgia will be able to resolve the crisis provoked from abroad by political methods and will not allow a new splash of aggression against neighboring states.
