Residents of South Ossetia see their future in the construction that Russian President Vladimir Putin is creating today, the head of the South Ossetian state Alan Gagloev said on Wednesday at the meeting with the organizers of the film about the Rosenberg spouses.

According to the press service of the head of state, the President met with the founder of the Foundation for the Support and Development of Jewish Culture, Traditions, Education and Science Mikhail Chernov, director of the Center for European Integration of the Republic of Belarus, a political scientist Yury Shevtsov and Professor of the National Research University Higher School of Economics, Doctor of Philosophy Yury Plyusnin.

The guests arrived in Tskhinval for the presentation of the film “The Value of Peace. Julius and Ethel Rosenberg". The screening of the film took place the day before at the South Ossetian State University.

The head of state greeted the guests.

“Today we have to once again defend our history, our present day, and our future. Those countries that consider themselves part of the Russian world have rallied around the Russian Federation. South Ossetia determined its vector of development a very long time ago. All residents of South Ossetia see their future in the structure that is being created today by President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin.

I know that this is not your first time here, and thank you for coming even during such a difficult period. We are always glad to see you," said Alan Gagloev.

Mikhail Chernov thanked the President for the warm welcome.

“I am happy to come to South Ossetia. As a citizen of the Republic of South Ossetia, as a friend, I do not separate myself from our Republic. The people of South Ossetia turned out to be one of the first peoples who stood up for the defense of the Motherland within the framework of the special military operation and who are always ready to be the first. This, of course, is seen and appreciated in Moscow,” he said.

Mikhail Chernov told the President about the film, emphasizing that the film is relevant in connection with the current situation in the world.

“We brought a film shot by the Foundation for the Support of Jewish Culture. This is a film about peace, about the Rosenbergs, about what we all really need in South Ossetia, in Russia, and throughout the world to prevent the escalation of this conflict into unacceptable forms that threaten all of humanity. We showed the film at the South Ossetian State University. You have wonderful students. They were watching the .film with great interest,” he said.

For his part, Yuri Shevtsov noted the experience of building the statehood of South Ossetia, given its difficult geographical position.

“The fact that you have existed for 30 years as the independent state in terms of international relations is a long time. Somewhere spontaneously, somewhere consciously, you have gained a unique experience in solving many problems. And I have always been impressed in your state creativity by how you have found a place for yourself in the context of Russian foreign policy," he said. .

Yuri Shevtsov expressed his readiness as an expert to assist in expanding relations with the Republic of Belarus.

The guests have also noted the positive changes that have taken place in the Republic, and the special goodwill of the people.

Yuri Plyusnin, in turn, spoke about his research in North Ossetia and shared his observations with the head of state.

“I examined the districts of North Ossetia in 2019. I have described several of them in my book, and I had the intention to compare everything, because these descriptions give the authorities a lot to understand what the population is like, what its potential is, what can be taken from it and what should be given to it. And this moment can be very important and necessary for the Republic. Moreover, here is a unique political and spatial-geographical position,” he said.

At the end of the meeting, Alan Gagloev noted that he was closely following all the events taking place in Russia and Belarus, and stressed that it was very important to give each other a brotherly shoulder in such a difficult time..
