Issues of mutually beneficial cooperation in the field of sports were discussed at the meeting between President of South Ossetia Alan Gagloev and Deputy Minister of Sports of Russia Odes Baysultanov, the press service of the head of state reports.

The meeting was held at the ground of the first Caucasian investment exhibition IEC "MinvodyEXPO".

Odes Baysultanov has noted that it is necessary to determine the basic types that are in demand in the region, and also suggested sending a group of specialists to South Ossetia to jointly work out a plan for the development of infrastructure in the country.

For his part, Alan Gagloev has emphasized that freestyle wrestling and weightlifting are well developed in South Ossetia and that the sports complex built at the expense of the Alina Kabaeva Foundation gave a powerful impetus to the development of such sports as swimming, rhythmic gymnastics, and also spoke about the achievements of athletes, participating in various international competitions.

“South Ossetia is trying to develop all kinds of sports. We have a very good climate, but, unfortunately, there is still not enough appropriate infrastructure. Our athletes travel to training camps in other republics, but I think that with time and with the help of our strategic partner and Caucasian friends, we will be able to realize our ideas and improve conditions for athletes,” the President of the Republic of South Ossetia said.

Odes Baysultanov also shared the idea of building a mountain base with a cable car. He expressed readiness to form a team to work out with colleagues a step-by-step plan for resolving this issue.

Alan Gagloev assured him of his readiness to create all the necessary conditions for future projects.
