In South Ossetia, power structures are taking measures to curb the illegal circulation of weapons and ammunition, the press service of the KGB reports.
"The State Security Committee, together with the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Emergency Situations, as well as in cooperation with the Border Directorate of the Federal Security Service of Russia in South Ossetia, continues measures for suppression of illegal trafficking in weapons and ammunition..
As a result of these activities, in the first half of 2023, more than nine kilograms of explosives, six weapons, 45 ammunition, eight fuses for hand grenades, ten components for weapons, over four thousand rounds of various calibers were discovered and seized," the press service has noted.
The KGB has noted that verification measures are carried out by the law enforcement agencies of the Republic for each fact of seizure of weapons, ammunition and explosives from illegal trafficking.
The voluntary issuance of illegally stored weapons and ammunition to law enforcement agencies does not entail criminal liability and contributes to decreasing the level of crime, the press service specified.
