Employees of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of South Ossetia took part in the Forum of young diplomats of the Eurasian countries, held on the sidelines of the Manzherok festival in Gorno-Altaisk.

The event was organized by the Council of Young Diplomats of the Russian Foreign Ministry together with Rossotrudnichestvo, the United Russia party and the government of the Altai Republic, the Republic’s Foreign Ministry reports.

The Forum was attended by over 80 participants from 13 countries, including Russia, Abkhazia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Mongolia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, China and Syria.

The program of the Forum, the theme of which was defined as “Diplomacy of the new multipolar world”, included a number of expert sessions on topical issues of interaction between the countries of Greater Eurasia, such as strengthening cooperation in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), building the Greater Eurasian Partnership, development of "soft power", the search for new points of growth in the face of sanctions.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov addressed the participants of the event with a video greeting, noting that building up constructive, fruitful cooperation with friends, allies and like-minded people in Eurasia is Russia's absolute priority.

The Forum is a vivid example of the concept of "horizontal diplomacy" implemented in the Russian Foreign Ministry, focused on developing a network of platforms for informal communication between young diplomats, government officials and experts. Its goal is to strengthen the atmosphere of trust and mutual understanding between young employees of the foreign affairs agencies of friendly countries.
