The main achievements of South Ossetia over 15 years of peace include the restoration of infrastructure, healthcare facilities, education, and much more, political scientist Yury Vazagov noted during the Tskhinval-Sukhum video bridge held at the Sputnik South Ossetia site.

The event was attended by military observer Alexander Khrolenko, Russian sociologist, political scientist, journalist, politician Vladimir Lepekhin, political strategist, journalist, PR and GR communications expert Alena August, who came to the Republic to participate in the international forum dedicated to the 15th anniversary of the recognition of the independence of the South Ossetia Russia.

Also, the participants of the video conference were the deputy of the South Ossetian parliament Zita Besaeva, Deputy Head of the Presidential Executive Office of the Republic Alan Tibilov.

“The main focus was on areas that are responsible for improving the living conditions of the population, and on infrastructure. That is, the basis for subsequent economic development was being restored. And in the medium term, the emphasis will be placed on the implementation of projects in the economic sphere, on the creation of industries aimed at creating new jobs and replenishing the budget of South Ossetia,” Yuri Vazagov emphasized.

Russian politician Vladimir Lepekhin has noted that a completely new economic concept is needed, but has stressed that the path to it will be quite long.

“We need to take a meaningful course towards leaving the zone of division of labor and forming our own on the basis of the Eurasian Economic Union and the transformation of so-called industrial relations. This will give a result, perhaps, in two electoral cadences,” Lepekhin stressed.

Deputy Zita Besaeva, for her part, has noted that the Republic has adopted a program of socio-economic development, but its implementation is still difficult.

“It is difficult for us to advance the issue related to economic development. We have adopted a program that suggests switching to self-sufficiency after some time, but its implementation is still difficult. I think we will nevertheless move on to the implementation of this program and the spheres of agriculture, tourism, and other areas will be implemented along with this, because there is such a need. I think that this is a good help for us to realize ourselves in the economic sphere,” Besaeva said.

The deputy noted that the implementation of the program would have a beneficial effect on the domestic market of the Republic. “In the future, when these industries and businesses develop, I think this will provide us with a foreign market,” she stressed.
