According to statistics, the number of violations of the state border of South Ossetia and Georgia has decreased, the situation today is more stable, Deputy Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy of the of the Republic of South Ossetia for Post-Conflict Resolution, Head of the South Ossetian delegation to the IPRM Egor Kochiev told reporters after the meeting in the IPRM format.

He has noted that today the situation is more predictable than for the same period last year, and even for the past periods of this year.

“I hope that this trend will continue, and we will have positive steps that will ultimately lead to recognition of South Ossetia by Georgia, to a full-scale settlement between our republics, and peace, tranquility and order will reign among us,” Kochiev said.

According to him, the issue of the Georgian citizen detained in the area of the village of Sinagur, engaged in poaching, was also discussed at the meeting.

“Using explosive devices and an electric fishing rod, he destroyed about 25 kilograms of fry in the lake. Literally, he has destroyed an entire population of fish.

In relation to him, I can assure you that a criminal case will definitely be initiated for poaching,” Kochiev has emphasized.

The head of the South Ossetian delegation said that the day before a Georgian citizen had been detained for violating the border.

“At first he said that he was going for cigarettes, then that he was looking for missing cattle. In fact, all this was his invention. Currently, we have already notified the Georgian party about this violation. Our border services will have an appropriate conversation with the detainee and will decide his future fate. If he had no previous offenses, I think the issue will be resolved by his deportation. In case of violations, the issue of initiating a criminal case will be decided,” he has noted.

According to preliminary agreements, the next meeting in the IPRM format is planned to be held on December 13. According to Kochiev, much depends on the next round of the Geneva discussions on security in Transcaucasia, which are scheduled for early December.
