A meeting between the delegation of the Republic of South Ossetia, led by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of South Ossetia Znaur Gassiev, and the delegation of Republika Srpska, led by Milorad Dodik, Chairman of the Union of Independent Social Democrats, took place on the sidelines of the 29th St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.
According to the Embassy's press service, strengthening bilateral relations was discussed in detail during the meeting. Key topics included deepening political dialogue and finding common ground for mutually beneficial cooperation in a wide range of areas.
Znaur Gassiev reaffirmed Tskhinval's readiness to host its dear friends, inviting Milorad Dodik and all the meeting participants to the Republic. Emphasizing shared historical trials and spiritual ties, the South Ossetian Ambassador noted: "Ossetians and Serbs defended their right to exist at the cost of blood. The peoples of South Ossetia and Republika Srpska are united by a similar fate, identical spiritual values, and we have a common, reliable ally—Russia."
The meeting participants have discussed in detail how to infuse new content into the existing Cooperation Agreement so that the friendship between peoples can be translated into concrete joint projects.
"Our countries have signed a Cooperation Agreement, which we will undoubtedly expand and infuse with new history in the spaces of our two fraternal republics and the entire Russian world," Znaur Gassiev said.
The meeting was also attended by Minister of Economy and Entrepreneurship Radenko Bubić, Head of the Republika Srpska Mission to the Russian Federation Duško Perović, and Deputy Minister of European Integration and International Cooperation Nemanja Kovačević.
