The South Ossetian state border violator Levan Dotiashvili will be handed over to the Georgian side on Thursday evening, reports the press service of the KGB of the Republic of South Ossetia.
As previously reported, in the vicinity of the village of Amdzarin, Leningor district, on November 6, the Georgian citizen was detained by the border patrol for illegally crossing the South Ossetian-Georgian state border.
“During the operational investigative measures, it was established that he was a resident of the village of Kirbali, Gori municipality, Dotiashvili Levan, born in 1990.
Regarding the reasons for crossing into the territory of South Ossetia, Dotiashvili said that he and his comrades knew about the line of the state border, but deliberately violated it under the influence of local activist Ginturi Tamaz, a supporter of Saakashvili, a functionary of the opposition party “United National Movement”, a participant in the military operations in the territory of South Ossetia in August 2008 as part of the Georgian armed formations,” the statement of the press service reads.
The KGB has noted that this group of Georgian citizens was intoxicated, violated the South Ossetian-Georgian border, resisted the border guards, posing a threat to the life and health of the border guards, and it was Ginturi who insisted on visiting the Lomisi Dzuar temple, and also in every possible way encouraged to crack the door of this sanctuary.
“It should also be noted that the violators were moving to the temple in a car driven by Ginturi in an extremely drunken state.
As part of the pre-investigation check, Dotiashvili repented of his actions and fully realized his guilt. He has admitted that the incident was a consequence of the negligent attitude of the Georgian authorities, who do not carry out explanatory work among the local Georgian population on the passage of the state border with South Ossetia and the inadmissibility of violating it,” the department has emphasized.
The KGB has added that taking into account that the investigation into the incident was carried out promptly and in full, as well as based on humanitarian considerations, a decision was made to deport Dotiashvili to Georgia.
“In this context, based on the analysis of this situation, the State Security Committee of the Republic once again reminds that all possible directions of penetration of the state border violators are in the control zones and sectors of influence of the border forces of South Ossetia,” the department has noted.
