Chairman of the Government of South Ossetia Konstantin Dzhussoev has met with the delegation of Dagestan, which arrived in the Republic to participate in the events dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Rasul Gamzatov, the press service of the executive body reports.
The head of government thanked the guests for their visit to the Republic and noted the importance of cultural exchange.
In Ossetia, Rasul Gamzatov's work is reverently regarded, many of his works have been translated into Ossetian, and, of course, we all remember one of his legendary works – "Cranes". Gamzatov dedicated it to the Gazdanov brothers, who went to the front and did not return," the head of government said.
He has also emphasized that the peoples of Dagestan and Ossetia live as brothers, and today, as during the Second World War, the Dagestan and Ossetian fighters are fighting side by side during the special military operation, supporting each other.
In turn, the head of the delegation of the Republic of Dagestan, Alexander Makhmudov, continued the theme and noted that the special military operation worries everyone without exception, and that our peoples must be together.
“As said by Rasul Gamzatovich: “We don’t need to be together, but we need to be close.” I think this is even more correct... The friendly attitude towards us in Ossetia fascinates and gives us a forecast that we will succeed,” Alexander Makhmudov said.
At the meeting, there were also discussed issues of twinning the administrative units of the two republics in the future.
Konstantin Dzhussoev supported the initiative, having noted that South Ossetia has a desire to develop relations not only in the field of culture, but also in the economy, and also emphasized that “in the Caucasus everyone should be brothers.”
