A divine service was held in the Church of the Holy Trinity in Tskhinval on Friday night in honor of one of the main Christian holidays - the divine Epiphany.
Representatives of the Republic's leadership, led by President Alan Gagloev, and parishioners attended the festive service.
The head of state congratulated all residents of the Republic on the Epiphany of the Lord.
“Today is a big holiday for all Orthodox Christians. I would like to wish all residents of the Republic peace and prosperity on this day. May the Lord protect our guys who are in the special military zone so that they return to their homes in good health,” the President said.
After the service, the Orthodox went to the village of Dmenis, where the ceremony of lighting the water took place. A font was organized in which believers could plunge into.
At 10:00 am, a liturgy will begin in the Church of the Most Holy Theotokos in Tskhinval, which will continue with a religious procession to the Liakhva River in the capital, where the rite of Baptism will take place.

Ambulances and rescuers from the Ministry of Emergency Situations will be on duty at the swimming areas. Heated tents with a field kitchen and hot tea will also be set up here.
