Representatives of the Foundation for Support of the Wounded, who became disabled during the fighting in South Ossetia in the period from 1989 to 2008, made a working visit to the Luhansk People's Republic. The Foundation handed over another batch of humanitarian cargo to the fighters, including food and mineral water.
The head of the organization, Madina Plieva, said that the trip was planned last year, but was postponed due to the unstable situation in the LPR.
“The column was supposed to leave South Ossetia and arrive in Luhansk on May 9, 2023, but the day before we were informed about the unstable situation in the republic and we were forced to postpone the visit. This year we decided to go to the LPR. Our trip would not have taken place without the full support of President Alan Gagloev. Thanks to his participation, we again collected tons of mineral water and food,” noted Madina Plieva.
According to her, Presidential Advisor Alan Pliev made a great contribution to the formation of humanitarian assistance. Prosecutor General Grigory Sobaev also made his contribution. In addition, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Customs Committee and the Ministry of Emergency Situations of South Ossetia, as well as Yugosetnefteprodukt, provided enormous assistance in organizational matters.
This is already the fifth such event of the Wounded Foundation.
Madina Plieva has emphasized that they were warmly received in the fraternal republic, and the organization of the events was at the highest level.
As part of the visit, the widow of the LPR Prosecutor General Sergei Gorenko, perished as a result of the terrorist attack, was given the Order of Honor, which he was awarded posthumously by decree of President Alan Gagloev.
“President Alan Gagloev signed the decree on awarding Gorenko during his lifetime, but he soon died and it was decided to award him posthumously. We also visited his grave and laid flowers there,” Plieva has clarified.
On behalf of the head of South Ossetia, the delegation of South Ossetia also met with the wounded during the fighting in Donbas and laid wreaths on the Alley of Victims of the Ukrainian Aggression and at the Memorial "Non-healing Wound of Donbass".
