On Saturday night, the National Museum of South Ossetia again became part of an international event, joining the “Night of Museums” action.

Dozens of residents and guests of the Republic came to see the exhibition to plunge into the history and culture of their people.

The Museum director Merab Zasseev has shared that every year they try to somehow diversify the event.

“Of course, we cannot refuse the bead of desires (tsykurayi faerdyg). Everyone who made a wish claims that it came true. The museum staff put their heart and soul into this event responsibly,” Zasseev said.

Russian Ambassador to South Ossetia Marat Kulakhmetov has noted that the land of the Republic has a great history and it is united in the National Museum.

“The centuries-old history and military feats of the people are depicted here. I believe that every resident of the Republic should definitely visit this temple and get in touch with this deep history,” Kulakhmetov said and thanked the museum staff for the prepared action.

According to the head of the Russian House in Tskhinval, Sergei Komissarov, the museum is the evidence of the well-being of the people.

“We wish to continue to replenish the museum’s exhibitions and further create the opportunity for people to touch artifacts, thereby making it clear what kind of land you live on and to be proud of it,” he said.

One of the regular participants in the event, Eteri Guzitaeva, is an ardent connoisseur of history.

She knows the exhibition so well that she herself conducts short excursions for museum visitors.

Guzitaeva believes that the “Night of Museums” is a very useful event and she looks forward to it every year.

“Every year I come here with my grandchildren so that our younger generation can see firsthand the conditions in which our ancestors lived, what their life was like. When they read about it in books, they often don't understand, so it would be great if everyone brought their children to the museum and showed them the exhibits. Every time we come here, we discover something new for ourselves,” Guzitaeva said.

She expressed great gratitude to the museum staff, who kindly answer all questions of visitors.

“There are very few museums like ours, and I ask our residents to come here and get acquainted with the history of the people,” she added.
