The Federation Council approved at a plenary session the law on ratification of the protocol on amendments to the intergovernmental agreement with South Ossetia, which abolishes duties on the export of oil products and gas to the Republic.

The agreement between the governments of Russia and South Ossetia on the regime of trade in goods was signed in March 2012, and the protocol to it - on December 30, 2023.

The amendments provide for the possibility of not applying export customs duties established by the decree of the Government of the Russian Federation. It's about Russian oil products and natural gas exported from the Russian Federation to the customs territory of the Republic of South Ossetia.

As noted by the parliamentarians, "the implementation of the protocol will contribute to the development of the Russian-South Ossetian trade and economic cooperation."
