The preliminary meetings of the Geneva Discussions Co-Chairs are important. The presence of all participants at the talks demonstrates their commitment to the process, the OSCE Co-Chair Christophe Späth said during the press conference.
"During the preliminary meetings, it is important to find out the priority topics for the participants in the discussions. We are all grateful that we had a very detailed discussion today," he has noted.
Christophe Späth has stressed that the positions of the parties differ greatly.
"During the Geneva Discussions, we try to discuss, consider these positions, and perhaps take some steps so that these positions begin to converge," he said.
The OSCE Co-Chair stressed the importance of the Geneva Process and the holding of the IPRM.
"During the IPRM, specific issues are discussed and resolved," he said.
Späth said that today, among the topics discussed were the issues of missing citizens of South Ossetia, the issue of increasing detentions for illegal border crossing.
"We hope that a humanitarian approach can be developed in this area. I would like to especially emphasize the efforts that have been made to resolve the issue of water supply," Christoph Späth has noted.
The next round of the Geneva discussions will take place on June 25-26.
