On the hill of the fuel and energy complex, President of South Ossetia Alan Gagloev, representatives of the ministries and departments, as well as personnel and veterans of the Vadim Gazzaev riot police laid wreaths and flowers at the obelisk of riot policemen, perished while repelling the Georgian aggression.
Six members of the special police detachment - Grigory Sanakoev, Zurab Gubaev, Gennady Dzhabiev, Yuri Kozhukhov, Alexander Mikhailenko and Stanislav Gabaraev – were killed in the battles on the territory of the fuel and energy complex in June 1992.
The obelisk, installed at the place of the death of Special Forces soldiers, has become a symbol of courage, perseverance and heroism of the defenders of the Fatherland.
Their names have entered the history of the struggle of the Ossetian people for independence.
