South Ossetia took part in the event in memory of the defenders of Abkhazia in Tiraspol

The head of the official representative office of South Ossetia in Transnistria, Vitaly Yankovsky, took part in the memorial event in Tiraspol on the occasion of the 32nd anniversary of the beginning of the Patriotic War of the people of Abkhazia, the press service of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia reported.

"The event was organized by the official representative office of Abkhazia in Transnistria," the press service has noted.

The Day of Remembrance of the Defenders of the Fatherland was marked in Abkhazia the day before. 32 years ago, on this day, August 14, 1992, at the height of the resort season, the units of the Georgian National Guard under the command of Tengiz Kitovani invaded the territory of Abkhazia. A bloody war began which lasted 413 days and ended on September 30 with the victory of the Abkhaz people.
