The action dedicated to the memory of the Beslan tragedy victims will be held in Tskhinval. As, a representative of the South Ossetian Ministry of Education Zamira Budzhieva told IA “Res”, high school students, teachers, and the public of the Republic will take part in the mourning event.

“On September 3, a mourning rally dedicated to the terrible tragedy in modern history - the Beslan terrorist attack - will be held on the Cathedral Square in Tskhinval. As part of the rally, the participants will honor the memory of the victims with a minute of silence, and flowers will be laid at the “Grieving Angel” monument in front of the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary,” Budzhieva said.

According to her, the memorial event will also include the launch of white balloons into the sky in memory of the Beslan fallen school children.

The memorial event starts at 9.15.

Every year, South Ossetia pays tribute to the victims of the Beslan tragedy. Every year on September 3, schoolchildren bring flowers to the Church of the Holy Mother of God and launch 334 white balloons into the sky, corresponding to the number of victims of the terrorist attack.

The new school year in South Ossetia also begins on September 5. The postponement of the date by several days became a sign of solidarity with the victims of the Beslan tragedy and their relatives.

It should be reminded that as a result of the seizure of school No. 1 in Beslan in North Ossetia-Alania, on September 1, 2004, by terrorists more than 1,200 people were taken hostage. On September 3, 334 people were killed by terrorists, 186 of whom were children. 126 people became disabled, including 70 children.

In Ossetia, the three-day mourning events dedicated to the memory of those killed in the terrorist attack at the Beslan school are held annually since 2005 on September 1. During the mourning days, people bring flowers to the ruins of the school in Beslan and to the memorial cemetery "City of Angels", where most of the perished hostages are buried. In 2005, the "Tree of Sorrow" monument was unveiled there, and in 2006, a memorial to the FSB Special Forces and the Emergencies Ministry rescuers while freeing the hostages.
