The statements of the head of the Russian MFA Sergey Lavrov once again demonstrated the immutability of Russia's priorities regarding South Ossetia, Irina Gagloeva, a research fellow at the South Ossetian Research Institute, told the Res agency.
Earlier, Sergey Lavrov, at the meeting with the head of the South Ossetian MFA Akhsar Dzhioev, said that Russia would continue to provide assistance to South Ossetia in ensuring security, having emphasized that the decisions of 2008 were not subject to revision.
Gagloeva has noted that the meeting of the heads of the foreign policy departments of Russia, South Ossetia and Abkhazia aroused increased interest among the public of the Republic, including due to the situation developed in the region.
"Recently, alarming rumors have been circulating disturbing rumors in the South Ossetian society, provoked by the anti-Russian forces that are deliberately seeking to undermine Russia's position in South Ossetia. In this regard, the statements by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov once again demonstrated the immutability of Russia's priorities with regard to South Ossetia, confirming the course towards further development of cooperation between our countries," Gagloeva said.
She has emphasized that the allied relations between Russia and South Ossetia, as before, continue to be a significant factor strengthening stability in the South Caucasus region.
