The opening of the fruit and vegetable processing plant in the village of Pris in Tskhinval district is one of the most promising projects of the state investment program, in which the Russian investors are participating. This is stated on the website of Ministry of Economic Development of Russia.
On Saturday, October 12, South Ossetian President Alan Gagloev and Deputy Minister of Economic Development of Russia Dmitry Volvach ceremoniously opened a fruit and vegetable processing plant. The enterprise will produce premium quality products. The new production will allow the Eepublic not only to increase tax revenues to the budget, but also to create more than 200 new jobs.
According to Volvach, the projects aimed at improving the quality of life of the population are being implemented together with the government of the Republic.
"Together with the government of South Ossetia, we are carrying out systematic work to attract investment into the economy of the Republic, implementing the measures aimed at improving the quality of life of the population. The opening of new production facilities and the Republic's transition to the use of the EAEU law in the sphere of customs regulation this year will significantly increase the Republic's own budget revenues," he said.
The head of South Ossetia, in turn, has emphasized that the opening of the canning plant is of great importance for the Republic, and the implementation of the project itself has become possible thanks to the direct participation of the Russian partners.
As noted by the President, the Republic is moving to a new stage of economic development, emphasizing that the products of the new enterprise will be in demand not only in the Republic, but also beyond its borders.
"The opening of such a large-scale project is of historical significance for us. This is the first serious result of the work of the new leadership of the Republic," he has added.
During the working visit, representatives of the Ministry of Economic Development and the relevant federal agencies also got acquainted with the progress of work at the facilities that are being built and reconstructed in South Ossetia as part of the implementation of joint investment programs in the sphere of socio-economic development of the Republic for 2023-2025, as well as at the facilities with the participation of Russian investors. This concerns the construction of the enterprises for the processing of natural stone, the opening of continuous basalt fiber production, as well as the production of a wide range of various drinks.
In addition, negotiations were held between Dmitry Volvach and Alan Gagloev, as well as a the working meeting on the issues of socio-economic cooperation between Russia and South Ossetia with the participation of Prime Minister Konstantin Dzhussoev, as well as representatives of the relevant departments of the two countries.
"The participants of the meeting discussed the issues of the upcoming 23rd meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission in Moscow, which will take place before the end of this year, the issues of supporting the investment activities of the Republic in 2024, the progress of the state program for socio-economic development of South Ossetia for 2022-2025 and the achievement of key target indicators of this program this year," the statement reads.
The parties paid special attention to the "road map" for optimizing energy supplies, completing the transition of the Republic to the customs legislation of the EAEU and the implementation of the plan for the integration of South Ossetian and Russian customs authorities, the possibility of introducing an electronic signature in the Republic, as well as the implementation of the plan for harmonizing the tax legislation of South Ossetia and Russia in 2025.
"Harmonization of tax legislation of our countries will allow the introduction of modern approaches and technologies in tax administration into the activities of tax authorities of South Ossetia, the creation of the necessary regulatory framework, unification of rates for individual taxes and excises and, as a result, increase the level of own revenues in the Republican budget," Dmitry Volvach has clarified.
