International practical shooting competition is being held in South Ossetia at a high level, as last year, Alan Alborov, Chairman of the Practical Shooting Council of St. Petersburg, said at еру press conference in Tskhinval.
"As a friendly country for the Russian Federation, South Ossetia has provided a venue for holding international practical shooting competition for the second time.
This is a very important step that will allow Russian athletes to take part in the international competitions," he said.
According to him, more than 100 people from 12 countries are taking part in the competition: Russia, Switzerland, Canada, Israel, Armenia, Azerbaijan, etc.
"Many athletes from all over the world, having learned that such competitions would be held here, gladly agreed to take part in them, because for them it is a good opportunity to compete with high-level shooters," Alborov said.
He has reminded that these are the second international practical shooting competition held in South Ossetia.
"It turned out that there are no such shooting ranges anywhere in the world. All the exercises are built into the natural landscape. And for everyone it was a pleasant experience. And during the current competition it turned out that many are not ready for such a challenge as shooting at the open shooting range. So this is an invaluable experience for all participants in these competitions," he has noted.
Alborov emphasized that this is the beginning of the journey, and in South Ossetia practical shooting will take a worthy place along with other sports.
In addition, Alborov noted that there is close cooperation between the practical shooting federations of Russia, St. Petersburg and South Ossetia, noting that the majority of shooters came from Russia to the international competitions held in the republic.
“It is very important that South Ossetia provides such an opportunity to hold such competition on its territory. The Russian Federations, in turn, are very actively involved in the training of athletes and the coaches themselves,” he has emphasized.
Vice President of the Practical Shooting Federation of Russia Anton Nazarov noted that the contingent of participants in the International Competition consists of еру international-level shooters.
He has stressed that there is a Russian national team in all disciplines in this sport.
“Until the recent events of 2022, we were performing quite brightly at the international level and, in principle, Russians were on all the podiums,” he said.
