The authorities of South Ossetia have handed over to Georgia two of its citizens who served their sentences for illegally crossing the state border, the press service of the Republic's KGB reported.
A resident of the village of Dirbi in the Kareli municipality, a 31-year-old Akhvlediani Khadzharat, and a 28-year-old resident of the city of Gori, Romelashvili Giorgi, were detained on February 24 and May 25 of this year for illegally crossing the state border of the Republic of South Ossetia.
"They were found guilty of committing a crime under Part 1 of Article 322 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Illegal Crossing of the State Border" with a sentence of imprisonment," the KGB has clarified.
Due to the expiration of their sentences, the violators were released on Tuesday and handed over to the Georgian side in accordance with the established procedure.
