The cases of violation of the state border of South Ossetia with Georgia related to smuggling have become more frequent since the previous meeting within the framework of the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanisms. This was reported by Deputy Presidential Envoy of the Republic of South Ossetia for Post-Conflict Settlement, the head of the South Ossetian delegation to the IPRM Yegor Kochiev.
Most often there is cigarette smuggling, which involves Georgian citizens trying to transfer goods from the territory of South Ossetia," Kochiev said. "They are detained for violating the state border, or for violating the border regime, and they have cigarettes with them."
He noted that three cases of smuggling had been recorded over the past period.
