A priority for South Ossetia is the intensification of relations with the Russian Federation - the guarantor of peace and stability in the region, President Alan Gagloev said at the press conference.
"For us, this is a priority task," he said. - One of the important vectors for South Ossetia is also establishing contacts with the Union State of Russia and Belarus.
The Republic is taking certain steps to organize new and strengthen the existing ties.
This primarily concerns the economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres."
According to him, regular contacts are held with the Standing Committee of the Union State in Moscow.
"Parliament of South Ossetia has a certain potential in terms of developing interaction with friendly countries, primarily with colleagues in Russia. And such work is being carried out. It should also be noted that the legislative body of the Republic is a permanent observer in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union of Russia and Belarus," Gagloev has noted.
He has added that South Ossetia sees the support and assistance of its Russian colleagues in this.
"By the way, in January of this year, the team of Ministry of Emergency Situations of South Ossetia performed well at the annual tournament among firefighting and rescue units in Bobruisk, dedicated to the Day of the Rescuer of Belarus. We can also highlight the participation of the Republic in the events dedicated to the Day of National Remembrance of the Victims of the Great Patriotic War and the Genocide of the Belarusian People, which took place in June in Brest," Gagloev emphasized.
He has continued that during the year the Republic was developing cooperation with the states that recognized our independence.
"In particular, the delegation o Ministry of Foreign Affairs of South Ossetia held a number of meetings in Nicaragua, discussing the strengthening of bilateral relations.
Representatives of the Ministry work in various countries, promoting the interests of the Republic," the President said.
The head of state has noted that work with the Diaspora is also of great importance.
"In particular, in May-June of this year, at the initiative of the Plenipotentiary Representative of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of South Ossetia in the Benelux countries, Radion Pukhaev, the Days of Ossetian Culture were successfully held in Luxembourg.
The exhibition of the Ossetian artists from the EU countries was organized as part of the event, which aroused great interest among art lovers.
A representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Italy, Mauro Murgia, who was recently awarded the title of honorary citizen of Beslan, is also actively working," the President said.
He noted the cultural and educational activities to preserve the native language and traditions, as well as the work to strengthen ties with South Ossetia, carried out by Plenipotentiary Representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Turkey, Burhan Khosity, and Chairman of the Ossetian society "Alan" in Turkey Sadrettin Kusaty.
"Considering the current international situation, this is quite a difficult task," Alan Gagloev shared.
Nevertheless, according to him, the Foreign Ministry will continue to take steps in this direction.
