Ambassador of South Ossetia to Russia Znaur Gassiev Znaur Gassiev congratulated Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov on behalf of the people and President of the Republic of South Ossetia Alan Gagloev on the Day of Diplomatic Worker, the press service of the Foreign Ministry reports.
Gassiev wished Lavrov good health and success in serving the Fatherland.
The Ambassador expressed gratitude to the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry for his close attention to the Republic and comprehensive assistance in strengthening the South Ossetian diplomatic service.
"On February 10, Znaur Gassiev, at the invitation of the leadership of the Russian Foreign Ministry, took part in the solemn ceremony of laying flowers at the memorial plaques in the building of the Russian Foreign Ministry by the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry Sergey Lavrov. As part of the Diplomatic Worker's Day, a tribute is traditionally paid to the memory of the employees of the People's Commissariat of Foreign Affairs of Russia, diplomats who gave their lives on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War, diplomats died in the line of duty," the ministry noted.
Sergey Lavrov congratulated his colleagues on the occasion of the Diplomatic Worker's Day, which is celebrated on Monday, and expressed gratitude to all who are today honestly fulfilling their duty in the Central Office on Smolenskaya Square, territorial representative offices in the Russian regions and foreign missions.
"This year is special in the diplomatic calendar - it is marked by the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War and World War II, declared the Year of the Defender of the Fatherland. With special gratitude, we pay tribute to the immortal feat of the employees of the People's Commissariat of Foreign Affairs, who were defending the Motherland with weapons in their hands during the harsh war years," Lavrov said.
According to him, "today we are remembering the diplomats, our senior comrades, who were bringing the Victory closer on the foreign policy front."
"They made an invaluable contribution first to the formation of the anti-Hitler coalition, and then to achieving fundamental agreements in the post-war world order, the most important of which were the decisions to create the United Nations and the adoption of its Charter, the principles and goals of which, in their totality and interrelation, remain relevant to this day.
Largely, due to the decisive role of the leadership and diplomatic service of our country, the Yalta-Potsdam system of international relations has so far guaranteed global peace and security on the planet for eight decades," the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry has noted.
