The Day of Remembrance of the Great Russian poet Alexander Pushkin was marked in the capital of South Ossetia.
The event was organized by the Association of Teachers of Russian Language and Literature
(APRYAL), with the support of the representative office of Rossotrudnichestvo in the Republic.
Representatives of the Republic's leadership, Russian Ambassador to the RSO Marat Kulakhmetov, the head of the Russian House Sergei Komissarov and the public of the Republic came to pay tribute to the memory of the Great Russian poet, whose literary legacy has become the invaluable contribution to the world culture.
The South Ossetian State University students and schoolchildren recited the poet's immortal poems.
As noted by President of APRYAL Zalina Tedeeva, Pushkin's remarkable poetry and prose are dear and close to his contemporaries by their piercing artistic perfection, vital truth, deep lyricism and high civic spirit.
"Reading and rereading Pushkin's works, we never cease to be amazed by the power and special charm of his proud and living words. Pushkin unites everyone; we continue to learn from him such wonderful qualities as nobility, spirituality and dignity. We learn the beauty and melodiousness of the Russian language," Tedeeva said.
President of APRYAL also congratulated all those present on the Day of Russian Diplomacy.
The memorial event ended with the laying of flowers at the poet's monument.
