Since the previous meeting within the framework of the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanisms (IPRM), the situation on the border of South Ossetia with Georgia has remained quite calm, the head of the South Ossetian delegation Yegor Kochiev told journalists following the meeting in the IPRM format.
The first meeting of the parties this year took place in the village of Ergnet - on the border of South Ossetia with Georgia.
“As a solution to the issues of certain incidents related to the violation of the state border, the South Ossetian party considers the beginning of full-scale work on delimitation and subsequent demarcation of the border,” he said. - If this happens, and the Georgian state, which is blocking the work in this direction in every possible way, finally understands that one way or another we must mark the border, we will first agree on the border line of, then mark it on the ground."
In this case, Kochiev is sure the incidents on the border between the two republics will stop.
"As a rule, at the meetings in the IPRM format, we discuss many issues. The first and most important topic is security. Since the previous meeting - November 19, the situation has remained quite stable, calm and predictable, with the exception of several violations," he said.
Kochiev has added that a case of violation of the state border by representatives of the Georgian police was recorded.
"We pointed out to the Georgian representatives that the policemen, which are supposed to protect order and prevent such incidents, are violating the state border themselves. I think that the Georgian party took our message into account and will deal with this incident," Yegor Kochiev has emphasized.
According to him, the South Ossetian delegation has emphasized that the IPRM format exists to solve any problems or issues arising on the state border.
“And within the framework of this format, we solve certain problems by reacting and preventing incidents. If they occur on the other side of the border, we contact the Georgian side, which is trying to solve the problem on its territory.
We take similar measures in the event of any incident on our territory. We have the appropriate services that have sufficient forces and resources to solve these problems,” he said.
The head of the South Ossetian delegation has added that the meeting has also discussed UAV flights and the issue of removing the illegal Georgian police post in the village of Uista.
The next meeting in the IPRM format will be held on April 3.
