A scientist from South Ossetia, head of the department of socio-economic research of the Republican Research Institute Vyacheslav Dzhabiev took part in the international scientific and practical conference "The Transcaucasia Front during the Great Patriotic War", held in Kabardino-Balkaria.
As reported to IA "Res" by Dzhabiev, the conference, organized by the Department of General History of KBSU, was dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory.
"The agenda has included a wide range of issues related to the contribution of the Transcaucasia Front to the victory over fascism and the participation of the region's population in the fight against the enemy," Dzhabiev said.
According to him, within the framework of the conference, the scientists noted the need to preserve the historical memory of the heroic past of the peoples of the USSR and counteract falsifications.
"Today, when the values of humanism are under attack, our society is once again faced with the need to fight for peace and justice. After all, historical truth is not limited to the boundaries of the past, it is closely linked to responsibility for the future," he said.
Dzhabiev expressed gratitude to the organizers and participants of the conference, emphasizing the importance of victory and truthful coverage of the historical events of those years for the younger generation.
The South Ossetian scientist spoke at the sectional meeting with a report on the topic: "The contribution of South Ossetia to the victory over Nazi Germany during the Great Patriotic War."
A collection of reports is planned to be published based on the conference materials.
For representatives of the scientific community, the conference has become a good platform for exchanging opinions, holding scientific debates and discussions, and also contributed to the strengthening and expansion of international cooperation.
The delegations from Azerbaijan, Armenia and Belarus also took part in the conference.
