A ceremony of laying a garland of Memory and Glory, flowers and wreaths at the Eternal Flame was held on the Alley of Glory in Tskhinval.
The event dedicated to the 84th anniversary of the beginning of the Great Patriotic War (Day of Remembrance and Sorrow) was attended by the leadership of the Republic, headed by President Alan Gagloev, Russian Ambassador to South Ossetia Marat Kulakhmetov, members of Parliament, military personnel and representatives of the public.
During the Great Patriotic War, more than 21 thousand people left South Ossetia for the front, of whom more than 11 thousand perished in battle, and more than 7 thousand went missing.
