A memorial event dedicated to the memory of the Beslan tragedy victims will be held in Tskhinvali on September 3.

The event, organized by the Ministry of Education and Science of South Ossetia, will bring together high school students, teachers and representatives of the public of the republic.

As reported to IA " Res" by Zamira Budzhieva, a representative of the Ministry of Education, the memorial rally will take place on Cathedral Square at 13:00.

The participants will honor the memory of the victims with a minute of silence and lay flowers at the "Grieving Angel" monument in front of the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

The culmination of the event will be the launch of white balloons into the sky, symbolizing the souls of 334 victims of the tragedy, including 186 children.

"The Beslan tragedy is the unhealed wound in the hearts of many people. We consider it our duty to honor the memory of the innocent victims and pass this memory on to future generations," Budzhieva has emphasized.

South Ossetia mourns together with Beslan every year on this tragic date. In solidarity with the victims of the tragedy and their relatives, the beginning of the school year in the Republic has been postponed to September 5.

On September 1, 2004, terrorists seized school No. 1 in Beslan, taking more than 1,200 people hostage. As a result of the inhuman terrorist attack on September 3, 334 people died, 186 of whom were children.

Since 2005, three-day mourning events dedicated to the memory of the victims are held annually in Ossetia. On these days, people bring flowers to the ruins of the school and to the memorial cemetery "City of Angels", where most of the victims are buried.
