South Ossetia remembers with gratitude the invaluable support provided by Nicaragua during one of the most difficult periods in the Republic's history.

This was noted by leader of South Ossetia, Alan Gagloev, in his congratulatory telegram to President of Nicaragua, Daniel Ortega, on the occasion of the national holiday - Independence Day.

Gagloev has noted that the history of Nicaragua is rich in heroic events and the struggle for independence from colonial rule.

"The fateful day for the Republic of Nicaragua, September 15, 1821, symbolizes the courage and fortitude of the Nicaraguan people in the struggle for freedom and self-determination. Independence made it possible to independently determine their path of development, preserve their cultural heritage and build the future," the congratulation reads.

The President has also emphasized that today Nicaragua is steadily moving towards strengthening its sovereignty, prioritizing economic growth, improving the education and health care systems, and preserving the national culture and traditions that form the basis of the unique identity of the people.

“I am convinced that our interstate relations, our cooperation, which is of mutual interest, will be developing and expanding,” the leader of the Republic of South Ossetia said.

Gagloev wished Ortega good health, new impressive successes in government activities, and the friendly people of Nicaragua – peace, well-being and prosperity.
