South Ossetia is mourning the soldier killed in the special military operation

A farewell ceremony was held in Tskhinval for Soslan Kozaev, known by the call sign "Bars," who had heroically died while serving in the line of duty in the special military operation zone.

Hundreds of residents of the Republic, comrades-in-arms, the South Ossetian leadership, led by President Alan Gagloev, and the Russian Ambassador to the Republic of South Ossetia, Marat Kulakhmetov, attended the soldier's final farewell.

The head of state expressed his deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased. In his speech, Gagloev has emphasized that today's defenders of the Fatherland, like their fathers and grandfathers during the Great Patriotic War, are displaying unparalleled heroism and selflessness, worthily continuing the military traditions of their ancestors.

Soslan Kozaev was 30 years old. He had been missing in action since August 2024. He is survived by three children.

By the decree of President of the Republic of South Ossetia, Soslan Kozaev was posthumously awarded the "Defender of the Fatherland" medal for courage and bravery displayed in defense of the Motherland.
